Plastic Flow Tester

Plastic Flow Tester measures the flowability of powdered or granular plastics by timing their discharge from a funnel. Method A provides information related to processing performance, while Method B is specifically designed for process control during production. Powder flowability is a crucial characteristic of powder coatings, closely related to the specific gravity, particle size distribution, looseness, and production process of the finished powder.

Plastic Flow Tester complies with standards: GB∕T 21060-2007 "Determination of Plastic Flowability"; ISO 6186-1998 "Determination of Plastic Flowability".

Measurement principle: Expressed by the time taken for a sample of known mass or volume to flow through a funnel of specified dimensions.

Technical specifications:

3. Funnel: Upper aperture: 110mm, angle: 40°, lower apertures: 10mm, 15mm, and 25mm (one each), and one funnel with interchangeable interface

Test method:

Close the funnel outlet with a shut-off device. Pour (150±1)g of sample into the funnel along the inner wall to avoid compaction. Quickly open the shut-off device without causing vibration, and start timing simultaneously. Stop timing when the funnel is empty, i.e., as soon as the outlet becomes visible from the top of the funnel. Record the discharge time with an accuracy of 0.1s.

Perform three tests with new samples under the same conditions. After each test, clean any residual resin adhering to the inner surface of the funnel.

If electrostatic effects prevent material flow, add an appropriate amount of antistatic agent approved by relevant parties and retest. Record this in the test report.
